چکیده

The F a b r y P e r o t Interferometer, the confocal and the spherical resonator systems are investi gated. The lowest-order traveling-wave type eigenmodes are calculated. Numerical values for the diffraction losses are given. The smallest diffraction losses are obtained for the general-type eigenmode of a confocal resonator system. The eigenfunctions of an open-walled resonator show a point of inflection as their characteristic feature. They are complex if the F r e s n e l Number is finite. When calculate over appropriate surfaces, their imaginary part, in the region close to the axis, decreases as F increases. In that region the waves resonate between the reflectors. Towards the rim of the system the imaginary part increases rapidly as do the diffracted waves associated with the imaginary part.

The impact of nearest neighbor interaction on the resonances in terahertz metamaterials

By using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy and rigorous simulations, we investigate the impact of gap orientation of neighboring split rings on the three lowest order eigenmodes for a metamaterial based on split ring resonators. We distinct scenarios where neighboring split rings have their gap either on the same or on opposite sides. The two lowest order eigenmodes are marginally affected, wh...

Excess noise in low Fresnel number unstable resonators

Numerical calculations of excess noise factors in low Fresnel number unstable resonators are described in detail. Computed mode profiles in one transverse dimension together with associated Petermann K-factors are presented; dynamical considerations such as injected wave excitation are also examined. The properties of the zero-order modes are consistent with virtual source theory and with a sim...

Acoustic Metamaterial Design and Applications By

We proposed an approach to construct a 2D Fresnel lenses by acoustic network. This lens iscomposed of an array of Helmholtz resonators. The resonance at individual resonators results ineffective focusing even the plate has subwavelength thickness. The FEM simulation resultspresented the ultrasonic wave propagation through the lenses together with the resultingdiffraction pat...

A model for chaotic dielectric microresonators

We develop a random-matrix model of two-dimensional dielectric resonators which combines internal wave chaos with the deterministic Fresnel laws for reflection and refraction at the interfaces. The model is used to investigate the statistics of the laser threshold and line width (lifetime and Petermann factor of the resonances) when the resonator is filled with an active medium. The laser thres...

Spectral imaging of individual split-ring resonators.

We report on spectral imaging within individual silver split-ring resonators (SRRs) operating in the near infrared-visible range. We classified the optical eigenmodes from the measurement of their energies and nanometer scale spatial distributions. They are plasmonic standing waves that show great similarities with that of nanoantennas. We, however, evidenced marked differences in the near-fiel...
